International Guide Dog Day 2026

International Guide Dog Day 2026 celebrated the extraordinary partnerships between Guide Dogs and the people they support every day. Under the theme "Not all heroes wear capes, some wear harnesses", the campaign highlighted the trust, companionship and independence that Guide Dogs help make possible.

In the lead-up to the day, we shared the stories of our inspiring Client and Guide Dog teams, including Charlotte and her Guide Dog Hollie, Brian and his Guide Dog Quanti and Ria and her Guide Dog Trinity showcasing the unique bond, dedication and teamwork behind every Guide Dog partnership. The community was invited to hear these powerful stories through our campaign hero video and learn more about the life-changing impact a Guide Dog can have.

On International Guide Dog Day, supporters joined us at Martin Place to watch Guide Dog demonstrations, meet some of our incredible dogs and volunteers, and learn more about the services that help people with blindness or low vision live independently and confidently. Visitors also had the chance to meet Gulliver, our 4.3-metre-tall Guide Dog, and celebrate the remarkable role Guide Dogs play in our community.

The campaign generated widespread media attention across television, radio, digital and social media, helping to raise awareness of the two year journey required to raise and train a Guide Dog and the vital support donors, volunteers and communities provide along the way.

Thank you to everyone who watched, shared, attended, donated and helped spread the word. Together, we celebrated the heroes at both ends of the harness and the life-changing partnerships that make independence possible.
