National Puppy Day Appeal
These terms apply to a time-limited fundraising campaign run by Guide Dogs NSW/ACT around National Puppy Day (Campaign). By donating during the Campaign Period, you agree to these terms.
1. Who we are
The Campaign is run by Guide Dogs NSW/ACT ACN 000 399 744 (Guide Dogs, we, us). We provide services to people who are blind or have low vision in NSW and the ACT.
2. What this Campaign is about
This is a short trial campaign centred on National Puppy Day. It is designed to raise funds to support our guide dog puppies and related services.
3. Campaign Period and matching offer
- A generous major donor (Robyn McKeown) will match eligible donations made during the Campaign Period, up to a total of AUD $10,000 (Matching Cap).
- The Campaign Period is from 9:00 AM 9 March 2026, to 5:00 PM 30 March 2026 at (AEDT – Sydney, NSW), unless we end, pause or modify this period in accordance with these terms.
- Only donations that are made and successfully processed during the Campaign Period can be matched.
4. How you can donate
- You may receive asks through social media, phone calls (including by our telemarketing agents) and email appeals that link to our official donation channels for this Campaign.
- You can donate using the methods listed on our Campaign donation page or as otherwise advised (for example credit or debit card, direct debit or BPAY).
- A donation counts as received and eligible for matching only when the payment has been authorised, cleared and recorded by us or our payment providers.
5. Who can donate and what is eligible
- Individuals, businesses and organisations in Australia or overseas can donate, as long as it is lawful and appropriate for us to accept the donation. We may refuse or return a donation if needed to follow the law or protect our reputation or beneficiaries.
- We gratefully accept gifts of any size. For matching, we may set a minimum and maximum amount per donation (for example to make sure the Matching Cap is shared fairly). Any limits will be explained in our Campaign materials. Smaller or larger gifts that do not qualify for matching are still very welcome.
- Donations will only be matched if they are clearly recorded by us as part of this Campaign and are made in Australian dollars (AUD).
- The following are not normally eligible for matching (unless we clearly say otherwise): pledges not received and processed during the Campaign Period, donations in foreign currencies, gifts-in-kind, donated goods or services, volunteer time, bequests and grants that are already covered by other agreements.
6. How matching works
- The Matching Donor will contribute up to AUD $10,000 in total to match eligible donations received during the Campaign Period.
- Eligible donations will generally be matched dollar-for-dollar until we reach the earlier of:
- the Matching Cap of AUD $10,000; or
- the end of the Campaign Period.
- Matching is applied in the order that eligible donations are received and processed in our systems.
- Once the Matching Cap is reached, further donations will not be matched but will still support our work.
- If total eligible donations are less than AUD $10,000, the Matching Donor will match only up to that lower total. Any unused part of the Matching Cap will not be paid or carried over to another campaign.
7. How we use your donation
- Unless you clearly tell us otherwise, your donation and any matched funds will be used as general support for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, including our puppies and dog services, and other programs for people who are blind or have low vision.
- We will always use donations and matched funds to support our charitable purposes. If we cannot use your donation exactly as you prefer (for example if a particular project is fully funded), we may use it for a similar or related purpose.
8. Refunds and changes to donations
- Donations are generally non-refundable. Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be changed, we do not have to refund a donation if you change your mind or make a mistake.
- If we decide to refund a donation (for example a clear duplicate or processing error), we will deduct that amount from the Campaign’s eligible donations and adjust any related matched amount.
- If a donation is reversed, charged back or dishonoured, we may adjust the matched total and the Matching Donor’s contribution.
9. Tax
- Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. In Australia, donations of $2 or more may be tax-deductible, depending on your personal circumstances.
- We issue tax receipts for eligible donations in our usual way, which may include electronic receipts.
- The Matching Donor receives their own tax receipt for their matched contribution. Individual donors cannot claim a deduction for the Matching Donor’s contribution.
- We do not give tax, legal or financial advice. You should seek your own advice about the tax treatment of your donation.
10. Technical issues and unexpected events
- We will take reasonable care to keep our donation systems working, but we cannot promise they will always be available, error-free or secure.
- If technical problems, outages, cyber incidents, telecommunication failures or other events beyond our control affect the Campaign, we may extend, pause or shorten the Campaign Period, change how matching is applied, or take other reasonable steps to protect donors and the integrity of the Campaign.
11. Changing or ending the Campaign
- Because this is a small trial campaign, we may change these terms or withdraw, pause or vary the Campaign (including the matching offer) if it is reasonable to do so, including if laws change or unexpected events occur.
- If the Campaign ends early, donations already received will still support Guide Dogs’ work but may not be matched.
12. Privacy
- We handle personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, available on our website or upon request.
- By donating, you agree that we may use your personal information to process your donation, issue receipts, communicate with you about your support and the Campaign, and for other purposes described in our Privacy Policy. You can opt out of non-essential messages at any time.
13. Fundraising laws and governing law
- The Campaign is run in line with fundraising and charitable collections laws and regulations in NSW and the ACT.
- These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales. The courts of New South Wales (and any courts that hear appeals from them) have nonexclusive jurisdiction over disputes about the Campaign.
