Therapy Dog Awareness Month 2026: Court Dog Lani
One year on from beginning her Court sup-pawt role in the National Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and The Law Society of NSW Court Dog Program, Lani has truly found her perfect career.
Not a shift goes by without someone commenting on the difference Lani makes around the registry. Whether she is directly supporting someone or simply doing a walk-around, she brings calm, comfort and a welcome distraction to what can be a very intimidating environment.
Over the past year, Lani and her Handler have built a strong bond, relying on hand signals, body language and non-verbal communication while working in sensitive situations. Together, they have learned to read each other in a way that helps them support people in both the big moments and the little ones.
A year into the role, Lani continues to show just how incredible Court Dogs can be at offering steady support when it is needed most.
