Lived Experience Presenters

Amplifying the voices of the Blind and Low Vision Community is essential to breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive society.

One way Guide Dogs NSW/ACT does this is by employing talented presenters and communicators who speak about their lived experience, effective advocacy, and the range of services available through Guide Dogs.

Our presenters are skilled facilitators, educators and public speakers. They share the perspectives of the Blind and Low Vision Community and raise awareness of the issues that matter most to them.

They attend a wide range of events and are passionate about improving inclusion for people with disability.

Through their role, they:

• Discuss the key barriers to accessibility and inclusion identified by the Blind and Low Vision Community.
• Provide training on how to interact with and assist people who are blind or have low vision in an inclusive and respectful way.
• Share their experiences of using Guide Dogs NSW/ACT services, including referral pathways and the impact those services have had on their lives.
• Lead conversations about advocacy, accessibility and disability pride.

Our Student Education Program is one of our most popular offerings.

Developed in consultation with people who are blind or have low vision, these fun and interactive sessions can be delivered in early learning centres, schools and universities. Other presentation requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis before a booking is confirmed.
