How does Guide Dogs support people with low vision or blindness?
At Guide Dogs, we support people living with low vision and blindness to get out and about in their community safely and with confidence by teaching Orientation and Mobility skills. We help people learn to navigate their environment with the use of a white cane and other mobility aids, and support people to continue to enjoy hobbies and reading after vision loss with the use of adaptive technology.
We will work with you to overcome barriers to work and study when living with low vision or blindness, and give you the tools you need to live independently at home by developing tactile, audible, and other strategies to maintain a safe living space and manage daily living tasks
Through Guide Dogs, you can connect with others who have similar lived experience so you can share, learn from, and support each other.
We support children, parents and families of children with vision loss, teenagers, adults, and seniors.
