About our Disability Inclusion Training
Training designed to help others assist a person with blindness or low vision.
The training is suitable for any organisation or group who would like to make their service or venue more inclusive.
Guide Dogs provides training to various community and industry groups such as:
- public transport providers
- taxi and rideshare services
- hospitals
- universities
- local government
- hospitality and cultural institutions
What is included in the training?
We can create a bespoke training package to meet your needs.
Topics covered include:
- Background on causes and impact of blindness and low vision
- A presenter with blindness or low vision discussing their lived experience navigating and exploring the community
- How to assist a person with blindness or low vision at your service or venue
- How to interact with a Guide Dog
- Practical activities around communication and guiding.
Cost and delivery details
Delivery: Sessions are delivered face to face to allow for practical guiding and communication activities. We also offer a blended option of a webinar followed up by practical activities.
Duration: Session times depend on your desired content and time frame. We can offer a range of session times including half days and full days.
Participant numbers: A maximum of 16-20 participants is recommended to allow full participation in practical activities. However, we can cater for larger groups on request.
Costs: Costs vary depending on content, location and participant numbers.
