About the event

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Chatter Paws (Client peer support service) is excited to host a special virtual event on International Guide Dog Day that is open to all Guide Dog Handlers across Australia.

In line with this year’s International Guide Dog Day,  the focus of the discussion will be on dealing with and bouncing back from dog distraction and dog attacks. It’s not easy dealing with off-lead or poorly controlled dogs when trying to work with your Guide Dog. It can even be really scary and dangerous, especially if your Guide Dog is attacked.

This session will offer a chance to hear from some experienced Handlers on how they have worked through these challenges. You will be able to contribute your own tips and tricks and ask questions.

When: 6.30pm – 8pm, Wednesday 28 April, Sydney time.

What: An interactive discussion considering:

  • Experiences with dog distractions and ways of getting back on track
  • Impacts on Guide Dogs and how to support your dog through distractions and attacks
  • Rebuilding confidence, both Guide Dog and Handler after dog distractions and dog attacks

RSVP: Please register to connections@guidedogs.com.au and you will be sent the Zoom joining details closer to the event.
