Meet Jill.

Your local Guide Dog hero.

Jill is the definition of a happy-go-lucky soul who is determined and cheeky. As a puppy growing up in Bowral, Jill wasn’t overly motivated by treats. Instead, she worked hard for what really mattered to her; attention, praise, and cuddles. She grew up around primary school aged children, which brought her so much joy. She loved their energy, sought them out whenever she could, and would happily stop whatever she was doing just to be with them.

Growing up in the Southern Highlands, Jill got to practice obedience and skills at Seymour Park in Moss Vale where it’s nice and quiet and she could focus. She would practice walking nicely on the lead and dog distraction at Lake Alexandra where she would pass by lots of dog walkers. She would also train in Bowral and walk through the busy Main Street and High Street, the train station, and the local Coles. Bunnings and the Highlands Marketplace in Mittagong provided perfect rainy day training locations and introduced Jill to the shopping centre environment.

Jill is a true firecracker of a dog. She’s full of energy, personality, and a zest for life that makes her unforgettable. An extrovert at heart, she thrives in busy places like Woolworths and Big W, where her tail never stops wagging and she takes every opportunity in her stride.

In harness, Jill is keen, decisive, and clear in her guiding. She loves to target, keeps a steady handle tension, and shines when given clear instruction. Fast, confident, and adaptable, she balances her high energy with strong boundaries and is always eager to be told she’s a “good girl” (especially if a banana treat follows!).

Out of harness, Jill shows her softer side. Playful, cuddly, and always wanting to be involved. She has a special love for scratches down her back, and her happy-go-lucky spirit makes her the perfect blend of working dog and beloved companion.

With her outgoing personality, love of praise, and ability to balance fun with focus, Jill is the perfect example of a Guide Dog who brings both heart and fire to everything she does.
