Guide Dogs NSW/ACT appoints new Chief Executive Officer, Ashley de Silva.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley de Silva as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing 23 March 2026.
Ashley joins Guide Dogs NSW/ACT with extensive leadership experience across Australia’s not‑for‑profit and community sectors. He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of CHOICE, Australia’s leading independent consumer advocacy organisation, and previously as CEO of ReachOut Australia, a national youth mental health service. Ashley brings a deep commitment to empowering people with low vision or blindness to live independent and connected lives.
Chair of the Board, Jacqui Jones, said the Board is delighted to welcome Ashley to lead the next chapter of the organisation’s journey.
“Ashley’s strategic insight, inclusive leadership style, and passion for social impact align strongly with our vision and values,” Ms Jones said. “Under his leadership, we look forward to continuing to enhance our services, strengthen community partnerships, and drive innovation that supports our Clients’ independence and wellbeing.”
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT also extends its heartfelt thanks to Dale Cleaver, who has decided to step down as CEO after more than eight years of exceptional leadership. During his tenure, Dale guided the organisation through a period of significant growth and transformation, expanding regional access to services, leading the move from Chatswood to the organisation’s state-of-the-art facility in St Leonards, and delivering improved outcomes for Clients across New South Wales and the ACT.
“Dale leaves a strong legacy of purpose-driven leadership, collaboration, and unwavering dedication to our mission,” Ms Jones said. “We sincerely thank him for his outstanding contribution to our community.”
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT looks forward to welcoming Ashley de Silva and to continuing its vital work in partnership with Clients, volunteers, and supporters across the region.
