What is the vLIFE Program?
vLIFE is a Lifestyle-integrated Functional Exercise (LIFE) program for older people over 50 years old with low vision or who are blind. It is designed to improve strength and balance, whilst completing everyday activities. It is suitable for people who are interested to improve their confidence to move and able to safely perform the vLIFE activities
vLIFE program can improve your confidence to move by embedding activities that continuously challenge your balance and make muscles work harder into their daily tasks and routine.
The vLIFE is not an exercise program, it uses a lifestyle approach to help you to modify everyday activities and incorporate simple exercises into your daily routine and create new habits. This program can enable you to feel more confident, improve your overall wellbeing, boost energy level and feel stronger when walking and doing other physical activities.
What skills can I learn through the vLIFE Program?
The vLIFE program may include:
- Strength activities during your home tasks such as leg extension or stand on toes or walk sideways
- Balance activities during your home routine such as one leg stand or step over or tandem stand
The vLIFE program may require a shift in thinking as it encourage you to look for ways of doing more activities and incorporate them in your daily tasks.
Who is involved in providing my vLIFE program?
The program is conducted, either in person or by telepractice by an Orientation and Mobility Specialist who has undertaken specialised training in the vLIFE program.
The program is conducted in your home and all sessions are delivered in a one to one setting.
What funding can I use to receive vLIFE Program?
If you have low vision or blindness and you would like to access vLIFE program, we will support you and use funding provided by generous donations from the community.
