Every day, we use countless beauty products, from soap and sunscreen to makeup. However, for people with low vision or blindness, many of these products are inaccessible.
Packaging is hard to read, textures can be indistinguishable from each other, and instructions are often visually heavy, potentially leaving half a million Australians with low vision or blindness excluded from the full beauty experience.
This isn’t just a social issue; it’s a commercial barrier. By ignoring this market, brands are missing out on $40 billion in untapped spending power.
According to a report by the Centre of Inclusive Design, Microsoft and Adobe, “five million Australians across the country are unable to access products and services because of poor design. This number includes people living with a disability.” Our Clients tell us that many people want to engage with beauty products, but they simply can’t.

We’re on a mission to create a Boundless World for people with low vision or blindness by breaking down the barriers that limit their access to beauty products.
We’ve already made strides, successfully bringing together the brightest minds in beauty, product design, technology and accessibility at the Boundless Beauty Summit. This proved that making beauty products accessible isn’t as hard as many brands think.
When brands co-design with people who provide lived experience of disability, they’re more likely to create fully accessible packaging and make products everyone can enjoy. It’s not about overhauling the entire process; it’s about making it more collaborative and inclusive for everyone.
These insights led us to launch the Accessible Beauty Product Guidelines, a practical, easy-to-implement tool for brands to help unlock the potential of accessible beauty and gain an entirely new, untapped market.
