Statement from Guide Dogs NSW/ACT

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT (GDN) is absolutely committed to its important work as a charitable apolitical organisation in line with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) regulations.

GDN does not endorse political candidates or parties. GDN is part of the Guide Dogs federated structure. On behalf of the organisations that form the federated structure, GDA made a pre-federal election advocacy statement reinforcing its neutral political position and this statement can be found here.

GDN is aware of the media coverage about the distribution of political material which includes comments from the Guide Dogs Victoria CEO who appears to endorse a local candidate in the upcoming federal election. This material has now been removed and the GDV Board have launched an internal investigation.

Guide Dogs Victoria has issued a public statement on the issue. Here is a link to the statement.

We are thankful for all the support that we receive from the community and from our wonderful donors, volunteers, Puppy Raisers and staff. We remain committed to our important work of supporting those with low vision or blindness to live full and independent lives.
