About the event

Vision Assist Workshop: Empowering Newcastle to be inclusive of people with low vision and blindness

Dates: 25th and 30th March

Vision Assist is an exciting new program focusing on how to provide great customer service to people who are blind or have low vision.

The program is entirely designed and delivered by people who are blind or who have low vision themselves.

The program will cover everything from appropriate Guide Dog etiquette to how to assist a person to access a Covid-safe check in.

The program will be presented to business and Council staff over two workshops in March.  The program is currently taking registrations.

Vision Assist is also a mentorship program. In the process of developing and delivering the program, experienced educators are brought together with young people looking to develop their skills and have an impact in increasing the community inclusion of people who are blind or who have low vision.

Vision Assist is proudly supported by the City of Newcastle through a Count Us In grant. There are a whole range of events celebrating disability inclusion throughout March. Check out the whole calendar of events and register for Vision Assist through this link:  https://newcastle.nsw.gov.au/community/community-services/disability-access-and-inclusion/count-us-in

Vision Assist is a Connection Services program at Guide Dogs NSW/ACT. Connections programs embrace the power of peer support!
