Caring for 450 dogs keeps you busy!

August 16, 2019

With over 450 dogs and puppies in their care, our in-house Veterinary staff are always very busy.

Vitally, we have been able to increase the number of pups bred – so we can help more people who live with low vision. This year already there have been 31 litters born.  Your generous support has allowed us to innovate in the breeding and care of our dogs.

For example, we are improving the gut health of puppies and dogs thanks to the use of probiotics, and even ground-breaking faecal transplants to treat puppies with severe digestive conditions.

And we’ve introduced a Home Whelping Program where volunteers take our pregnant dogs into their homes and assist with the birth and care of the next generations of service dogs.

With your support, the professional care and innovation provided by our Veterinary Team ensures that more happy, healthy dogs can begin careers as service dogs each year, transforming the lives of adults and children in great need. Thank you!
